CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Stew became Mercury’s Chief Executive in September 2024. He joined Mercury in 2021 as the Executive General Manager, Generation, and was responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of our electricity generation assets.
Before joining Mercury, Stew was the Chief Executive at New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Ltd and has over 25 years’ experience working for industrial energy customers in mining, minerals processing and manufacturing in Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
Stew has a Chemical Engineering degree from Auckland University and an MBA from Melbourne University. With a proven track record of success in leading large, complex businesses, he is well placed to ensure Mercury capitalises and builds on its strong platform for growth.
CHIEF SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER
Lucie is responsible for facilitating the overall strategic framework at Mercury, including how it integrates our approach to environmental, social, and governance factors. She also leads our external communications, regulatory, environmental management and planning, iwi relationships, community engagement and government relations functions.
A major focus for Lucie and her team is on identifying new possibilities for our company in the future of energy. She joined Mercury in 2012 and has held a range of roles across the business. Prior to Mercury, Lucie practised environmental and energy law in New Zealand and the UK.
EXECUTIVE GM STRATEGIC AFFAIRS
Phil leads our focus on critical strategic objectives, like supporting the industry to manage the security of supply challenge.
Phil joined Mercury in 2004 and has held several roles across the business including Executive GM Portfolio, General Manager Hydro & Wholesale, Wholesale Markets Manager and Head of Technology & Innovation in Consumer Markets. Prior to joining the electricity industry, Phil spent six years in structural engineering roles in Auckland, Wellington, and London.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
William joined Mercury in 1999 and heads the finance, treasury, legal and investor relations functions. William was previously responsible for generation investment strategy and enterprise risk functions. He has long-standing industry experience in risk management, power development, wholesale markets and forecasting.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER - CUSTOMER
Craig leads our customer service delivery and is responsible for driving the commercial strategy of our customer business.
Craig joined Mercury in 2021. He has significant experience in the energy sector, with more than a decade’s experience in senior leadership positions, most recently with Trustpower.
CHIEF PEOPLE EXPERIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Fiona is responsible for leading the alignment of our people experience and technology teams to deliver strategies that support the future of work, our intergenerational diverse workforce and leveraging smart tech to deliver on our strategic goals.
Fiona joined Mercury from Trustpower in 2022 via our acquisition of the Trustpower retail business. She was with Trustpower for 26 years, has vast electricity and telecommunications industry knowledge and extensive experience in the delivery of customer-centric outcomes.
EXECUTIVE GM WHOLESALE
Tim is responsible for managing Mercury’s overall electricity portfolio with specific responsibility for all wholesale market activities and sales to large commercial and industrial customers.
Tim joined Mercury in 2005 and has held a range of roles across the business including GM Wholesale and Head of Treasury and Investor Relations.
EXECUTIVE GM GENERATION DEVELOPMENT
Matt leads Mercury’s generation development and is responsible for planning, developing and delivering new renewable generation.
Matt joined Mercury in 2022 and is an infrastructure professional and engineer with 20 years’ experience developing and delivering large and complex utility infrastructure in the US and NZ.
