Volunteers make the difference to athletes as they compete in this annual event. Also known as one of the most gruelling events on the New Zealand calendar, the Taupō event involves a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a 42.2km run.
Our army of over 1,500 volunteers provide the athletes with much needed support and encouragement from start to finish. Last race day, they handed out 750 kgs of bananas, 3,713 nutrition bars and 8,200 litres of Gatorade to keep the athletes charged. Our volunteers also help set up, register the athletes, and marshal on race day, right through to packing down, ready to do it all again next year.
