The Kaiwera Downs I Windfarm was constructed to schedule, under budget and will provide enough energy to power 20,000 homes.

Investment: NZ $115 million  

Number of turbines: 10

Height from ground to tip of blade: 145

Annual output: 147GWH

Wind Turbine Type: Vestas V136

KEY INFORMATION
A Kaiwera Downs community mini-fund is available each year to support groups and projects who are our near neighbours to Kaiwera Downs I wind farm.

Stage 1 of Kaiwera Downs was completed in October 2023. The commissioned Kaiwera Downs I and proposed Kaiwera Downs II will generate approximately 230MW of renewable energy.
